Public/Population Health is
emerging as a key area of health. It is involved with both fixing and
preventing health problems by focusing on groups rather than
individual clinical cases. Population Health is unique as it combines
social, behavioural, environmental, nutritional and health sciences to promote
health for the entire community. Job growth in this area is predicted to soar over the next four years (Sydney Morning
Herald, January 19-20 2008, p.42).
The
Diploma of Population
Health is designed to
provide you with the knowledge, skills and professional attributes to work in a
range of population health projects and programs. It is a unique blend of population health and practical study of current
health, activity and nutrition guidelines, projects and policies.
The
Diploma of Population
Health will allow learners to develop, tailor, communicate and promote relevant state,
Australian and global health, nutrition and physical activity reports and
guidelines for client groups and communities. This course is suitable for individuals who
wish to develop their knowledge of health and nutrition within a public health
framework.
